Our Weekends

Just thought you might be curious about our weekends here in the BIG city of Magnolia, Texas. For us it pretty much consists of a Saturday and Sunday filled with baseball games. To some it may not sound like a lot of fun but for me it is what I dreamed of when I would dream of becoming a mom. I remember my childhood so vividly and most of it was spent on the soccer field or the basketball court. I also remember my parents being at just about every game I ever had and that was a lot! Between my brother and I it was non-stop. I now have a much greater appreciation for what my parents did for me. Now, I used to think that I'd have little mini me's on the soccer field but that has not happened ( I am still holing out for DD) so we've settled in the world of baseball. Who knew 5 and 6 year old baseball could be so exciting? Well we've found out that it can be VERY exciting. Not so much with DS#2(yet!) but with DS#1 it's CRAZINESS!!! We've been blessed with some very gifted and great coaches. Once DS#2 gets to the same level it will be almost too much to handle. These boys are having so much fun and that is the main reason it gets so exciting. Our coaches make sure that they are being taught the proper fundamentals of the game but also make sure they have a lot of fun. My dear hubby takes all he learns from DS#1's team and teaches it to DS#2's team. That description alone is worth another blog (ah haaa moment! yeah) Be looking for that one.... Anyway, DS#1's team is doing quite well as this is the first season for these particular boys to play together. I thought I'd share some pics of both DS#1 and#2 so you all could see them in their element!

Gig Em' Aggies...

GO STANGS!!!!

There you have it. The exciting life of a "Baseball Mom"!

Halloween Pics

Here are a few pics of the kids and DH in their Halloween costumes....I know it's a stretch for the boys....baseball players. At least they make it easy on me! DD was a princess from Barbie and the Diamond Castle movie. Those of you without girls or young children probably have no clue. Just browse the "girl" aisle at Target and you can't miss it! Hope you all had a safe and happy halloween!

Pumpkin Patch

I have tried several times to get these pics loaded and have failed at all attempts. Hopefully this time it will work. Here are some pics of DD at a pumpkin patch and petting zoo here in the Magnolia area. Lots of fun!! We went with our MOPS group.

I am so glad they worked!!!

"Make-up" Day

Hello All,

I know it's been way to long since I've posted but I finally have found a little time to post a little something. It's quite funny and very cute, at least to me. Hopefully it'll make you laugh if not smile a little.

Now, I know that Columbus Day was Monday October 13, 2008 so again sorry for being behind but this pertains to this day in particular. As you know we were "victims" of hurricane IKE and our schools here in Magnolia were closed. In all the kids were out 1 week and 3 days. Well most of the schools in the area still had a "holiday" on Monday but our kids were told that it would be a make up day. So on the Friday before my DS#2 gets in the car and here is our conversation...

Me: "Hi boys, how was your day?"
DS#1 and #2 (in unison) "Good."
DS#1: "I got green"
DS#2: "Me too!"
Me: "Good job, did you learn anything?"

A second or two passes by and then...

DS#2: "No, but I have to bring some "make-up" to school on Monday."
Me: "Make-up? Why?"
DS#2: "Because, my teacher told us that Monday is "make-up" day!"

I nearly wrecked the car from laughing, it was so funny. The way he said it was just a great. The most serious voice and meant every word of it. In fact he was a little disappointed when I explained to him what it really meant.

Out of the mouths of babes...

It's Been A While...

Hi all,

Just wanted to post a quick not to let everyone know that I am finally back online! Yes, we evacuated for IKE and just returned home one week ago today and just got our power back on this past Sunday. I have some pictures and stories that I hope to get posted very soon. Thanks to all of you who prayed and sent happy thoughts our way!

Will it or won't it?

Well I am sure some of you or the few who read this will be wondering if we're evacuating due to IKE. Who knows, we're newbies to this hurricane stuff and since they're not real sure where IKE is going to hit it makes it hard to decide. I called to ask the boys school what the protocol is for this situation and they were not much help. They pretty much said it would be a last minute decision. That does not give me a whole lot of comfort. Then today my DH says that they're saying as of this morning that Houston is going to take a direct hit, yet while I am out shopping this afternoon I overheard a lady on her cell phone saying "we're doing nothing, it's not going to affect us at all". So, I am as confused as ever so I will just follow what DH thinks we should do. My DS#1 is already worried that we're going to get washed away. He hears the word hurricane and is all out of sorts. DH is watching it closely so I know if he feels like we should get the heck out of dodge then we'll do it. I am just bound and determined not to be one of "those" people you see on the news and ask your self "why"! I will keep you posted...unless we're outta here! LOL!!!

Hair Cut...or NOT!!!!

Here is a beautiful picture of my DS#2 with his beautiful red hair....until a classmate of his decided he needed a haircut!!!! YES, it happened at school and I was so sure he had done it himself since he'd just gotten on yellow (only took a week and 1 day lol!) the day before for playing with his scissors. I did not even realize it until after he'd taken his shower and was getting ready for bed and his hair was wet and laying flat minus the chunck right out of the middle of his forehead! I procedded to ask, "did you get in trouble again today for playing with your scissors?" "No mam, I did not play with my scissors today" he was a serious as a heart attack. Then I asked him, "did you cut your hair?" "Nope, I did not cut my hair, ______, cut my hair. I was trying to figure out why I had not been notified or why there was no note in his folder, needless to say I was not a happy momma. I put a note to the teacher in his daily folder and recieved a phone call the next day. His teacher informed me that yes, she did know that his hair had been cut and accidentally left the note out of his folder but that she taped some of my DS #2's hair to her folder for her parents to see what she had done. Well, my DH picked up the boys from school that next day and I realized that it was later than usual when I heard them drive up and this is how his hair is now... :0(

I know it will grow back, after all it's just hair, right??? Well, I just hope it comes back in the same beautiful shade of red in which it originally grew in!!!
